Versarien raises a paltry £318,000 at 3p – why the rush?

You want to know why Berenberg quit as joint broker yesterday as Versarien (VRS) also fessed up that Neill Ricketts was still a director earning £16,500 a month despite “resigning as CEO” a week ago? It will be when it discovered that, enabled by the bent journalism of Ian Cowie at the Sunday Times pumping the shares, SP Angel was doing a smash and grab deeply discounted placing to raise a paltry £318,000.

Dishonest journalism or bad journalism or both: Ian Cowie of the Sunday Times on Versarien

At least Cowie, one of Britain’s most senior personal finance journalists, is honest that he is a poltroon, admitting to buying shares in Versarien (VRS) at 177p. They closed Friday at just 3.5p although in his column today where he explains why he is hanging on for a bounce, Cowie says the shares are 5p. But the dishonesty of the journalism is epic.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: I agree with comments section uber-pest NoGold, he is utterly correct and wise

Not i suggest on most things. the man is clearly bonkers. But on how the Government should tax companioes getting subsidies for wages he has a very valid point which I discuss. Then I look at gold and when, not if, it will soar and gow to play that. Finally i look at what companies will do in terms of dividends AFTER they have, prudently, scrapped payments citing the Coronavirus. I fear Nigel Somerville and Ian Cowie of the Sunday Times may be in for a nasty shock.

Tom Winnifrith bearcast: No Luke you are wrong - it is because Jamie Oliver as an A grade a'hole

In today's bearcast I look at the writings of Ian Cowie in the Sunday papers and his cunning scheme to avoid IHT by losing all your money and his patronising view that journalists know better and can be trusted. A bit like Estate Agents and MPs then? I then discuss Luke Johnson's view that we are celebrating the business woes of Jamie Oliver because we envy him. Luke is not all wrong but overlooks the fact that Oliver is a patronising A grade A'hole.
